SHS Parent Meetings

Springdale Jr-Sr High School's administration holds meetings throughout the school year to provide an environment where parents and staff can interact. At these meetings, administrators address current events and concerns for parents and members of the community. Guest speakers may also be asked to present information to parents on topics of general concern to parents. Parents are encouraged to ask questions and bring topics of concern to the administration's attention. Parent Reading Meetings

Acmetonia Primary School and Colfax Upper Elementary School present parent programs that are designed to provide an opportunity for teachers, parents, and students to meet in the evening to share information regarding the development of the literacy process. Teachers present activities that parents and children can do to review, reinforce, and support the literacy instruction children are receiving in school. Three meetings are planned per year for each building. Parents will receive specific information about these meetings two weeks prior to the scheduled date.


Parent Information Sessions

For the past several years, the Allegheny Valley School District has provided information sessions for parents on current topics of concern. Experts are invited to the District to discuss issues such as internet safety, drug & alcohol abuse, and security issues. Parents of students in Kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to attend and participate in the session. Fliers promoting the presentations - along with information on the web site, letters from building administrators, and the local newspaper - are sent home to entice parents to take advantage of these opportunities. Information on these sessions has been placed in the Activities Calendar in the hopes of attracting more participation.
