School Board Information
School Board Committees
The Board Members conduct a great deal of business through the committees on which they serve. The committees meet to deliberate matters, conduct studies, review existing policies and practices, and make recommendations. These committees are:
Athletics & Activities - Directs recreational and extra-curricular activities.
Chairperson: Glenna Renaldi
Curriculum - Evaluates and recommends educational programs and textbooks.
Chairperson: Stephen P. Puskar
Finance/Operations - Directs and recommends the development of revenue needed to fund public education and the purchase of contracted services, supplies, repairs, and renovations.
Chairperson: Annetta Jursa
Personnel - Recommends employment and deals with matters concerning the welfare of employees.
Chairperson: Kathleen Haas
Technology - Assists and advises in the integration of technology into the schools.
Chairperson: Antonio Pollino
Policy - Examines current policies and recommends new policies to govern the District.
Chairperson: Elizabeth Moretti
The issues discussed and the actions taken at Board meetings are important and affect the education of the students of the Allegheny Valley School District. The District's motto, "Partnership for Excellence: Youth, School and Community" reflects the Board's desire to involve the public in decisions that relate to the schools. Residents must take an active part in order for this partnership to be successful. It is both important and helpful for school directors and administrators to hear input from the public. The bottom line remains that the Board of School Directors are elected to serve the public and to see that the District meets the educational needs of its students. School personnel need community partnerships to make this happen.
The School District is a busy place; many different educational programs and events occur every day. The best way to keep up with these happenings is to become involved in the School District. Community members are urged to attend meetings to update themselves on happenings in the District.
The Allegheny Valley School District Board of School Directors and Administrators welcome you to join them each month. A School Board meeting schedule is listed below. Agenda Planning Sessions will be held on the second Tuesday of the month; regular meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, except where listed below. All meetings are held in the Acmetonia Primary School Forum, begin at 7:00 p.m., and are open to the public.
