Dear Parent/Guardian:

Over the last few months, we were all reminded of the importance of school safety.  The Allegheny Valley School District continues to review its procedures for entering the buildings.  Several new protocols have been put into place of which you should be aware:

1. Visitors to the schools will be asked, via the intercom in the building entries, their purpose for coming to the school.  Please speak slowly and clearly in your response to the secretary.
2. Once entering the main office, visitors will need to provide identification for the building secretary.  Information will be taken from the identification and the visitor must sign in if he/she will be going into the building.
3. Staff will be asked to present a Visitor List to the building secretary for any person coming to the building to meet with them.  If your name is not on this list, you may need to wait for your appointment.
4. To allow proper screening procedures to take place, visitors must enter the Acmetonia office one at a time.  Please do not hold the door open for anyone else to access the building.
   
   To limit access into the Acmetonia School office, a “drop-off” cart is now stationed in the safety vestibule.  Parents should use this cart to drop off their child’s lunches, books, classroom treats, clothing etc. (Medication and money are the only exceptions). Parents are asked to follow the drop-off procedures which are located on the cart. The cart will be checked regularly to ensure the materials are delivered to your child on a timely basis.

Please understand that these measures are put in place to make the buildings a safer place for students.  Your support of these procedures is greatly appreciated.  If you should have any questions, feel free to contact your child’s building principal.

Dear Parent:

This letter is to remind parents of the morning student drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures at the front of the school building. To help ensure the safety of our students, a traffic pattern has been established for arrival and dismissal times at Acmetonia Primary School. Parents who will be transporting their children to school will need to utilize the traffic loop near the front of the school building. These students as well as walkers will enter and exit the school building through the front doors. Please look for traffic signs that indicate directions to this area. In addition, parents should be considerate and not park in the traffic loop and walk their child to the front doors. Please use the expanded parking area as if you would like to escort your child to the front doors. Upon dismissal, parents should wait on the front sidewalk and not crowd the steps. Staff members will excuse the students one at a time. When a parent sees their child about to be excused, they should move forward and make themselves visible to the dismissal supervisors. Your cooperation and support in this matter are appreciated greatly.
